I need the right trumpet for a lead jazz player?

I happen to be a working sax player but the trumpet players I know all seem to gravitate towards the Bach trumpets for jazz. Don't get too caught up in the equipment though, nothing takes the place of wood shedding and you should be able to pick up any working trumpet and play the gig with it. In my experience with saxes...they have tonally different characteristics some being warmer in sound than others but mouthpieces seem to make the most dramatic difference to me and I imagine the same goes for trumpets or other brass.
